2020 has been unprecedented for the wedding industry with many weddings having to be moved later in the year or into 2021. It is an unsettling time for all – couples, venues and suppliers as we do our best to accommodate these new changes. What I have seen happening is a rush to book popular dates for 2021. What I mean by this is weekend dates during the summer months – Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
The result means there are less dates now available in 2021 for every supplier – photography, hair/make-up, flowers, DJs, bands to name a few. Suppliers who you wouldn’t usually have to think about booking even 10 months in advance means now you need to start thinking about securing for your day. As a wedding photographer I cannot believe how many dates are now not available in my 2021 diary at this point in 2020 which is why I am urging all couples – via blogs, my website and social channels to contact me to secure your date as soon as possible.
I have been setting up video calls with couples who have reached out. It is an informal chat (I usually have a cup of tea in front of me) about their wedding day, my wedding collections and it also gives them the opportunity to ask as many questions as they need. It has been working extremely well and couples have been able to secure me as their photographer. I’ve also been helping couples with recommendations of suppliers who are know are amazing at what they do – anything to support couples and take the stress out slightly of planning is a winner in my eyes.
We don’t know exactly what the future holds at the moment but we do know however long this road is we have to support each other and that we will reach the end…..together.
To everyone – couples and suppliers…… remain strong…it’s tough, I really do know! but we will get through this.
Sending love and hugs,
