Wow what a sunny and warm bank holiday we had in May – definitely better than the bank holiday weekend before when it rained and rained and what made this one even better was the fact that I had a wedding to photograph!
It was the wedding of James and Joanna who pretty much to the day had met just 2 years before….when you know, you just know (cute). Emma and I arrived at the Brides parent’s house to the sound of laughter so knew we were in the right place! My friend (and excellent hairdresser) Marissa Balfe was doing Joanna’s hair and already had it up curling.
The light outside in the porch area was just gorgeous so Emma and I used this for the majority of the little detail shots like the rings, perfume, dress and flowers. When Joanna’s make-up artist arrived (Anna Fullbrook – another amazing lady) we headed upstairs to photograph the action.
Joanna’s dad has restored a VW camper van for the wedding and boy did it look amazing!! After admiring this (and obviously taking some photos) we headed to the church to find James who was suited in his military police uniform….slowly baking, no doubt in the sun….! He looked a little nervous but after some handshakes and hugs of support he seemed to relax a little and entered the church in Aldershot with the wedding guests.
Joanna arrived in the VW camper van and looked beautiful. We captured all the emotion, songs and smiles of the church service which was perfect and ended with a confetti shot outside (love this!) After capturing some groups outside the church the guests made their way back to the wedding reception which was being held at Stirrups Country Hotel in Bracknell.
Once back at Stirrups everyone was in need of a cold drink and enjoyed soaking up the sunshine – Emma and I finished the group shots ending with a shot of everyone (always a fun one to end with) before taking James and Joanna away for their couple shots. We found some cooler areas in the grounds to shoot and Emma did a great job at reflecting the light onto the couple. After giving them some more time with their guests everyone was called in for the wedding breakfast. After the speeches (Robby, I loved your speech) we ended the evening a little after the first dance so the couple could enjoy their time on the dance floor.
An amazing wedding with great suppliers, great venue – topped off with a fantastic couple. Below are some images from the day – both didn’t want me to display images in uniform so please just find a selection of the day.
Much love, L xx
