I was really looking forward to this wedding and very honored to have been asked to photograph the wedding of two of my friends – Matt and Kelly. I’ve known Kelly for a number of years and was so excited when they got engaged. When Kelly asked me to be their wedding photographer (over a cup of tea) I was delighted not only because I wanted the best for them but because I would be going on their wedding journey with them.
They were getting married at the lovely Rivervale Barn in Yateley so Emma and I arrived early to find Kelly and her bridesmaids in the cottage with Victoria Percival her make-up artist chatting and getting bits ready for later. The atmosphere was relaxed and Emma and I photographed all the little details Kelly had arranged for her day including presents for her Bridesmaids, jewellery and perfume. We also found some amazing places around the venue to photograph her flowers and shoes.
At midday we were able to move across to the Bridal suite so after taking some photographs of the dress, Kelly and the rest of the wedding party started making themselves at home. Victoria was amazing and so easy to work with. Kelly and her Bridesmaids looked stunning. Shortly before the ceremony we found Matt and his Bestman Will for some photographs around the front of Rivervale after which they entered the ceremony room.
Matt looked very relaxed and couldn’t wait to see Kelly! During the ceremony, in true style there was lots of laughter and fun which of course we captured! After the ceremony we photographed the confetti shot before taking the wedding party around the back to the stunning grounds for some group shots. As always Emma and I worked to the list agreed with the couple which keeps the group shots energised and not lengthly (which usually goes down very well!) We ended the group shots with a large wedding party shot – but not before the Groom took a selfie of everyone! (see one of the images below!)
After this we took Matt and Kelly around the grounds for some couple shots – my favourite part of the day as the couple get to spend some time alone (although with us!) and we get to chat about the day so far and the excitement to come. My style is natural and I’m always looking to capture the raw emotion of my couples this is why I like to get to know them, what makes them tick and how they interact with each-other – so on the day they are relaxed and really enjoying themselves……makes for the best photography!
We gave both of them some time with their guests before the wedding breakfast and then captured the speeches after the main meal. In true Kelly style she made a speech which was hilarious! One of the stories she told was how her and Matt met…she wasn’t sure to start with so asked her best friend Tracy for advice….she said ‘oh just go for it…it’s not like you’re going to married him!!!’ – True story!
After the speeches everyone had some ‘down time’ and Matt and Kelly had a cool Rum mixer bar, a photo booth, a band and a DJ – it was amazing that it all fitted inside! Just after 8 the Bride and Groom took to the dance floor for their first dance. We stayed to capture some more of the action after their first dance before saying our ‘goodbyes’ and leaving everyone to have a fabulous time.
Such an amazing day and both Emma and I are thrilled to have been a part of it. Below are some images from the day.
Congratulations both and lots of love,
L & E xx
