Season: Spring, May
Location: The Long Walk, Windsor
Photographer: Lauren Mitchell Photography
I was in Windsor bank holiday weekend visiting the Long Walk with a lovely family from Wokingham taking photographs for their portrait session. The family of four arrived at 8.15 and we found some shade underneath the trees to start their shoot. Even at 8.15 the sun is soft but does cast a lot of shadows so shade was the only way to get even light. Mum, Kelly wanted some posed ones as well as some of them interacting on the lawn so that’s exactly what we did.
Kelly had an idea of what she wanted so of course I wanted to make sure we met her requirements throughout the shoot. We started with some photographs on the grass and before I could place them they were already sitting down and placed perfectly – even the two children! (I joked that they must have been practicing their family posing in the mirror…..but I really wonder if they had!?) Any photographer worth their salt will know how to place people (especially for family group shots) so the people in the photograph look ‘comfortable’. You won’t have any awkward posing, or feet or hands missing from the shot – unless intentional. It will just look ‘right’ and it’s my job to make that happen.
The family had booked me for an hours photography shoot and as the time ticked on (excused the pun!) we shot a number of images some just with the children, then some with each parent and before we knew it the kids were ready for ice cream! One element of my job I love (nearly as much as the photography side) is meeting different people and families. I love the energy and vibes from the people I am fortunate to meet and hope to meet again.
Thank you for the smiles. Below are some photographs from our session.
