Many couples will know me for my photography but I also want to connect with my couples so I thought I would write a blog about my top 5 wedding ‘moments’.
1. The ‘meet and greet’!
I love meeting new people….that’s just me, be this at a wedding fair or when I visit a couple usually at their home for the first time. I’m relaxed, easy-going and have a passion for what I do so why wouldn’t I be excited talking about weddings!? I’ve been told my passion and energy oozes throughout a meeting or at a fair but it isn’t just about me and my work. It is about my clients therefore I rarely start a conversation with a sales pitch! Instead ask about them, how their wedding planning is going, and experiences so far. Although I am based in Berkshire, I do travel all over the UK and get to meet great couples where-ever I am so please do get in touch if you are looking for a wedding photographer.
2. The pre-wedding shoot
This is when we can all get even more excited as the big day approaches! I usually start with the shoot and some easy ‘poses’ so my couple relaxes (because it really is ok to be in front of the camera) and then as I look for the dynamics between them, I can then try different set-ups that I think will work really well. The main objective of this time together is for us to have fun! You can also see my behind the camera and I’ll show you some straight out of the camera before editing back at home. This is just another time I can meet my couple, get to know them better and vice versa.
3. On the day – the speeches!
Don’t get me wrong….I love every part of a wedding and it was a tough decision which part of the wedding day I choose to pull out for the blog. I decided to choose the speeches because this is one time (apart from the whole day right?!) that so many emotions are felt in such a short period of time. I’ve even had to stop myself from laughing sometimes as I get carried away with the stories and jokes of the happy couple! From a photography point of view it is like a treasure chest of opportunities as you are going to get people laughing, shocked, crying, in horror and cheering for more and capturing this is just priceless.
4. First Dance…..of many!
So after a few drinks, laughter, excitement and emotion comes the First Dance. This is usually a little calmer than the rest of the day but just as special and intimate. What I also love is when the wedding party invades the floor and then the big tunes come on! This is a fantastic time to capture fun shots of everyone dancing….even doing some ‘dad moves’!
5. The editing…..
After a wedding I’m so ‘wired’ the first thing I want to do is upload those images and spend the rest of the evening/early morning editing them (with a glass of Prosecco of course!)…..I have to restrain myself sometimes and ‘go to bed!’ It will be the Sunday morning I’ll have a sneaky peek and start editing that week.
So there you have it…..my top 5 moments from my wedding photography experiences.
